Mencetak Pemilih Cerdas dan Pengawas Partisipatif: Sinergi Akademisi dan Bawaslu dalam Edukasi Hukum Pemilu bagi Mahasiswa

Abstract


Elections are an important instrument in a democratic system which functions as a means of implementing people's sovereignty. The quality of election implementation is not only determined by the existence of regulations, but also by the level of public understanding and participation in maintaining the integrity of democracy. Students as part of young voters have a strategic role as participatory supervisors, political education agents, and guardians of democratic values. This community service activity aims to increase the election law literacy of students at the Sharia Faculty of UIN Sunan Kudus through education regarding election law, election supervisory institutions, mechanisms for handling violations, and resolving election process disputes. The activity implementation method uses a participatory educational approach through interactive lectures, guided discussions, case studies, and role simulations involving collaboration between academics from the Sharia Faculty of UIN Sunan Kudus and practitioners from Bawaslu Kudus Regency. The activity was carried out in three meetings with 4th semester student participants from the Sharia Faculty of UIN Sunan Kudus. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the concept of elections as part of a democratic system, the strategic function of Bawaslu in maintaining election justice, as well as legal mechanisms in dealing with various forms of election violations. Apart from that, this activity also strengthens students' understanding that the principles of honest and fair elections are related to Islamic values such as trust, justice ('adl), deliberation (syura), benefit (maslahah), and amar ma'ruf nahi munkar. It is hoped that this activity will be able to shape students as young voters who are aware of the law, have integrity, and contribute to realizing a healthy and just democracy.
