Abstract

The Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) phenomenon in hijab trends is a reality experienced by many Muslim women in the digital era. Many of them wear hijab not out of faith or sincerity for the sake of Allah, but because of social pressure, the desire to look fashionable, modern, and not to be left behind by trends. This study looks at the influence of FOMO on hijab intention and reflects on verses Al-Isra 36 and An-Nur 31. QS Al-Isra verse 36 teaches the importance of critical thinking and not following something blindly, while QS An-Nur verse 31 provides clear boundaries on how to wear hijab according to Shariah. This study comes as an effort to realize that hijab is not just a trend or a symbol of lifestyle, but a form of obedience to Allah. Thus, the reflection of these two verses offers an ethical and spiritual foundation so that Muslim women are not trapped in impulsive consumption of trends, but rather understand the meaning of hijab as a form of obedience, not just a lifestyle. This phenomenon indicates a shift in the intention of hijab from sincerity to Allah towards the interests of self-image. This study recommends strengthening Islamic literacy and self-awareness in responding to hijab trends to remain in accordance with Qur'anic values. Using a qualitative approach and thematic interpretation, it was found that many Muslim women prioritize appearance over the principles of Sharia. This is despite the fact that the Qur'an emphasizes the importance of having right intentions, using reason, and adhering to the correct hijab rules. This study raises awareness that hijab must be done with sincere intentions for the sake of Allah, not just following trends. This article is expected to be a material for study and education in the field of Islamic and social religious studies.
